Janis D. Butts, 65, of Watertown, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at the Golden Living Center in Watertown. There will be no viewing or visitation per the request of Janis. Janis was born in Clark on June 27, 1944 to Roy and Minnie (Kindler) Rasmussen. She attended schools in the area. She moved to Aberdeen and married Sam Miller on April 15, 1963. The couple later divorced. Janis moved to Santa Clara, CA to work for the Memorex Corporation. It was there she met Herbert W. Butts and they were married on September 15, 1979 in Reno, NV. The couple then moved to San Jose, CA where they lived until 1987 when they moved to Watertown, SD. Herbert died on May 27, 2007. Janis worked as a nurse at Jenkins in Watertown. Janis was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, other hand crafts and spending time with her family. Janis is survived by three grandsons; Randy (Amanda) Miller of Lake Norden, Dallas (Melissa) Miller of Lake Norden and Samuel Miller of Hayti, great-grandchildren; Alyssa, McKinsey, Avory and Brian Miller, children of Randy and Amanda, Sophi Miller, child of Dallas and Melissa, sisters; Arlene (Given) Anderson of Salem, OR and Darla Holsworth of Rapid City, special friends, Chris, Joseph, Nathan Paye and Linda Heib. Janis was preceded in death by her parents; husband Herbert, and a son Brian Miller. Arne-Weerts Funeral Home in Clark has been entrusted with her arrangements.
