Obituary:

Walter “Walt” E. Jacobson, 58, of Clark, died Friday, July 2, 2010 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.

Visitation will be Monday, July 5, 2010 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church Clark.

Funeral services will follow visitation at 2:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Robin Schaunaman officiating.  Organist will be Dorothy Fuller. Soloist will be Kathy Roebke

Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Bill Hasler, Arlin Munson, Gary Cannedy, Lowell Dalton, Doug Herrick and Gerald Antony.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Clark Lions Club.

Walter “Walt” Jacobson was born in Ortonville, MN on August 5, 1951 to Emil and Florence (Schwartz) Jacobson. He attended grade school at Big Stone City and ended up graduating in 1968 from Milbank High School. Walt continued his education by taking up diesel farm equipment/mechanics at Lake Area Vocational School in Watertown. Walt married Ardella Hanson on August 23, 1969 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vienna. Walt was hired by Schmidt Implement as a tractor mechanic and worked there for five years. He also worked at Olson Motors for five years as a mechanic. Walt owned the gas station in town called “Walt’s 66” which he ran from 1979-1998. He ended up working for McCains Foods till they closed. He recently worked as an over the road trucker for the last seven years. Walt was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Clark Lions Club.

Walt enjoyed working on old cars and fishing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and all various family functions.

Walt is survived by his wife Ardella of Clark, a son; Thaddeus (Laura) Jacobson of Florence, daughters; Wanda (David) Lau of Watertown, Emma (Jeff) Prebil of Blaine, MN, seven grandchildren, brothers; DeWayne Jacobson of Forest Lake, MN, Russell Jacobson of Iowa and LeRoy Jacobson of Kansas, sisters; Vivian Mitzel of Milbank and Cora Wolff of Fairbault, MN.

Walt is preceded in death by his parents, a son Jason, and twin sisters Joyce Aabers and Janet Ladwig.

Memorials in Walt’s name may be made to Dougherty Hospice House.
